Cuarentena / Quarantine
Aristides Hernandez, known as Ares, is Cuba’s best known living comic artist. He’s also a doctor of medicine who worked for years as a psychiatrist and social worker.
“I learned that cartoons are probably the easiest way to get across ideas,” he said.
Ares selected these cartoons from his upcoming “Cuarentena” exhibition at Havana’s cultural Center Pablo de la Torriente. Some images are also included in his new book “El Mundo Despues del Coronavirus” co-authored by journalist and writer Felix Lopez.
Cartoons by Ares regularly appear in international publications, winning numerous honors. See here a recent billboard in Tehran, Iran. His cartoons need no translation.
