Corazones (Hearts)

Corazones is a collective exhibition of Cuban posters curated by two prominent collectors in Havana, Damien Viñuela and graphic designer and author Pepe Menèndez.

As the title indicates, it’s a very diverse and creative use of hearts, displayed in all 52 works. There are 40 authors represented, ranging from artists who made their posters in the 1960s to works of 2020.

The themes include cinema, social, political, sports, and solidarity campaigns. The heart shape is used both to communicate loving passions and to allude to patriotic feelings. There are huge hearts and other tiny ones. Some anatomical hearts and many symbolic ones.

Corazones confirms the fabulous richness of Cuban poster art, an art that continues to surprise with its creativity and ability to seduce the viewer.
