Las Rastas (Rastafarians)
For a collective poster exhibition, each designer had to create a “visual essay” on one of Havana’s urban tribes, like hippies, rappers, mikis, reggaetoners, and others. I got Rastafarians. I’m not very close to that culture, so I had to study a little. I wanted to do something evocative, even poetic, not a representation of cannabis. I made the torso of a man with a lion’s mane, to show their roots to Ethiopia, also symbolized on the Rasta flag.
